Пару слов о ШП Shadowpriest raiding basics: Specs/Glyphs
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since Tedv/Snowy didn't start a basic shadowpriest thread yet - I thought I'd start a very basic thread with suggested specs for raiding at level 80, as well as very obvious information that probably most hardcore raiders already know, but this should be useful for people that just hit level 80 and want a very quick and dirty look at some basic information.
I'd later like to expand and include a guide to good gear to aim for from Naxx/Heroics, as well as further analysis showing the relative benefit of each stat compared against each other, but I will not be able to dedicate sufficient time to that until December at the earliest.
Spec:
That said:
The 'basic' level 80 shadowpriest spec:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
There are three floating points. You do not need threat reduction talents for single target boss DPS, although it is nice for AoE if you like to open up early.
Those 3 points can be spent either by finishing out pain and suffering/improved VE, or you can throw one filler point in tier2 holy and pick up two points in mental agility. You can even pick up silence since it is randomly useful, and very nice if you are ganking on the side. What you give up is not very huge.
Glyphs:
The first two major glyphs for shadow are an absolute no-brainer:
Glyph of shadow word pain
Glyph of shadow
The third glyph is almost always the mindflay glyph, but depending on how healer heavy you run, the dispel glyph is extremly good and very nice utility.
The minor glyphs are all utterly useless except the levitate glyph, which is lovely and saves a lot of hassle.
A very basic introduction to shadowpriest gear:
Compared to level 80, we now scale quite well with crit. The order in which you should look for stats are hit (until capped), damage, crit, haste, spirit, intelligence, everything else. Crit, haste scale with each other although at most gear values crit is tipically slightly better than haste at increasing dps, and crit increases our mana-efficiency and our mana regen as well.
How do I DPS in raids?
Shadowpriests have no cycle whatsoever, but instead use their ability based on a priority system. There are a few non-intuitive mechanics that affect shadowpriests that will probably get changed in the future, but for now, make sure you are aware of them.
SW: P should only get casted once per boss fight, and % damage increase due to crit/vulnerabilities on the mob is only determined upon the initial cast. If you open up on boss fights with shadow word pain before winter's chill/shadow vulnerability/earth and moon are up, you are costing yourself a lot of DPS. The traditional opening sequence is something like Vampiric Touch, Devouring Plague, Mindblast, Shadow Word: Death, Shadow Word Pain - since at this point all the debuffs should be stacked on the boss.
On use + crit trinkets should be used prior to casting Shadow Word Pain as well.
After you have gotten all your dots on the boss, play as follows:
1 Refresh VT as priority number 1
2 Refresh Devouring Plague as priority number 2
3 Mindblast if 1 and 2 are done
4 Mindflay is 1, 2 are done and Mindblast is on cool-down
5 Shadow Word Death iff you need to refresh a dot in ~2 seconds and mindblast is on cooldown. Shadow Word Death is almost never worth using except when opening, since it causes two shadow vulnerabilities when building up your stack.
Some topics I think are interesting but I do not know the answers to:
- Does the +crit % modifier of inner focus affect dots/shadow word pain? I intend to hit this as soon as I respec for level 80.
- The exact analytical formula of crit and haste scaling with respect to each other.
Some topics that I haven't had the time to explain in detail now:
- A proper guide to gearing up including useful quest rewards/craftables
- Which professions to take to min/max
- How to clip mindflays, and setting up quartz to do so
